Visual Approaches to Documentary

SHOOTING WITH INTENT

Learn how to consistently capture powerful images that enhance your non-fiction storytelling

Even if … you don’t have an expensive camera

Even if … you’ve already started shooting

Even if … you’re overwhelmed with no idea where start or how to shoot

In this 90-minute online workshop you’ll discover:

A ready-to-use framework for capturing an intentional look and “”cinematic”” feel to your shots

How to set yourself up for a successful shoot – long before you ever turn on the camera

How to maximize your limited shooting time and get the most essential shots to tell your story

How to develop unshakable confidence in yourself as a one (wo)man shooter or low-impact small-crew filmmaker

Also included: [FREE PDF] Documentary Shooter’s Cinematic Camera Checklist.

Bud’s Bio:

Bud Simpson is an Atlanta-based director of photography and independent filmmaker. People who know him well, know that he’s third generation filmmaker, who has spent countless hours behind the camera and in the editing suite. His cinematography has been featured in film festivals internationally including Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, Hot Springs, Bend, Newport Beach, Sidewalk Film Festival, Cucalorous, Oaxaca, and many others.

In the commercial world, his natural and cinematic images are sought after by brands such as Mercedes Benz, IHG, Doosan, Kodak, and others.

When he’s not on set, he’s leading filmmaking workshop and intensives in east Africa, rural Montana and across the globe in a program he founded called Stories Found – where he teaches filmmaking theory and techniques to emerging filmmakers all over the world.
