CHROMA – A QUEER FILM CLUB
Sidewalk Film Center + Cinema is pleased to announce a new free program called Chroma – an online space where members of the LGBTQ+ community from around Alabama can come together to discuss important queer films once a month.
Participants will watch the films on their own time. Thanks to funding from Alabama State Council on the Arts and Culturethon, we will be able to pay for any rentals or subscriptions you might need to access these films if you have been financially impacted by COVID-19 or otherwise do not have the funds to purchase yourself. Please email kiwi@sidewalkfest.com to request a film or subscription purchase no later than the Friday before each month’s discussion.
The discussions will be held the third Wednesday of each month at 7 PM and will be held on a private Discord server moderated by Sidewalk. They will last about an hour. You are welcome to share relevant materials to that month’s film or to introduce yourself in the Discord server at any time, but please be respectful of other group members and be mindful of the frequency at which you are sharing links or articles.
Please note, many of these films are rated R and may address difficult subject matter, so we encourage participants to only sign up if you are age 17 or older.
If you have questions, please reach out to Kiwi Lanier (they/them) at kiwi@sidewalkfest.com. We’ll process responses to this about once a week.
