| FIREFLY (105 min.) directed by Pete Marcy * Writer/director/producer/actor Pete Marcy, writer/producer/actor Chris Marcy, producer/actors Adam Anderson and Joe Marcy and actress Lindsay Hinman are scheduled to attend. FIREFLY interweaves the stories of three people seeking the mysterious truth about what happened one fateful Halloween night. Del woke up in his truck, hung over and covered in dirt. Brandt was found floating in a river. Susan was rushed to the hospital, bloody and cold. Now, a week before Christmas, Del is having vague, fragmented nightmares and losing sight of his dream to quit his roofing job and become a science-fiction filmmaker. Brandt, once confident in his relationship, is growing weak and skeptical. Susan's memory of her assault is met with a mix of pity and doubt. There's also a little bald guy, whose unexplained clairvoyance leads him to those in need. The answers will come Christmas Eve. FIREFLY is a methodical and carefully crafted tale that takes full advantage of the chilly aesthetic of a Minnesota winter, creating a remarkable narrative that works on multiple levels. Cleverly commenting on the nature of filmmaking, relationships and revenge, FIREFLY starts off with a bang and then rebuilds to a conclusion well worth the wait. Director Bio: As a child Pete Marcy wet the bed. As a high-school senior he qualified for the state-wrestling tournament and got pinned in his only match. In 2001 he was injured in a bad relationship. In 2002 he bought a camera, co-founded Failure Boys and began shooting FIREFLY. Screens with SOUVENIR, directed by Stephen Rose (5 min. / USA). A shadowy fable unfolds from inside a souvenir snow globe, in this unique film that was shot entirely with a toy camera. |
